10 Tips for a Healthy Snack

When I was in my university days I usually carve with extra snack because I sometimes skip breakfast or lunch due to my homework and projects. I thought that it should be fine since I ate an extra snack, but several months later, my belly became bigger and I usually feel sick. I talk to one friend and tell them what is my problem and they found out the source of my problem, skipping my meals and eating too much snack.

Battling the desire to eat a burger, candies, or chips make me became frustrated because if you eat this kind of food, it will make a big change in your health (regardless with your age). We all knew that a proper nutrition is the key of a healthy lifestyle. So what will you do to make your snack healthy?

Here are the 10 tips to have a healthy snack:

1. EAT REGULAR MEALS. It is better to eat your meals on a regular time basis rather that to skip it and make yourself hungry and be tempted by those extra snacks.

2. CARRY A HEALTHY SNACKS WITH YOU. It is better to prepare in advance and go for all out variety snack (snacks that are healthy to eat) to escape boredom.

3.RESIST ON BUYING JUNK FOODS. Yes! Those junk foods. I regularly eat it before because the taste entertains me and it is really delicious. Makes me want it more and more. This is really a problem for me before.

Make them an occasional treats rather than everyday food.

4. KEEP A STOCKED OF FRUIT BOWL. It more idealistic to put it in a bowl and place it in your desired area rather than to put it in a hidden area. Why? Because it is more likely to snack on healthy choices if they’re on hand.
Put it a plainer site so that it can be clearly seen with your own eyes.

5. THINK OF SERVING CONTROL. If you really want to eat junk food, read the label on the back portion of the snack package (sometimes it’s on the side portion) and stick to one portion. Do not eat the whole pack!

6. DO NOT SKIP YOUR BREAKFAST. Skipping your breakfast can lower your energy for the whole day. This can trigger of wanting an unwanted extra snack.

7. PLAN YOUR SNACK. Write a shopping list that includes your healthy snack and make sure that if you want to go shopping, you’re not hungry. Sometimes it will make you buy something that it is not on the list (Snacks on the counter).

8. MAKE YOUR OWN. You can make your own healthy snack which is much prepared for your own taste. Make it as an alternative on your favorite snack.

9. MINIMUM YOUR CONSUMPTION OF HEALTHY BARS AND FRUIT JUICE. Sometimes those advertised products are not in a rapid consumption. It is better to make your own.

10. STOCK SOME HEALTHY SNACK ON YOUR FRIDGE. Suggested snacks are yogurt, fruit juice, and salad.

After I manage my meals, I lost ¼ of my original weight and I feel much more energetic and healthier than before.
